Actor and television personality Archana Puran Singh recently spoke about her son Aaryamann Sethi’s long battle with depression, reflecting on the emotional challenges of balancing motherhood and a demanding career.
The actor appeared in a vlog on her son’s YouTube channel, where she candidly discussed a difficult phase when she realised that her son needed her support more than she had understood at the time.
Emotional moment changed her perspective
Archana recalled a period when she had been continuously shooting for several months. After the shoot ended, her son called and asked if she could speak with him, which made her realise that he was going through a difficult time.
“He never showed how he truly felt, and we used to think that he’s alright. It was the first time when he told me that he needed me, and I felt so bad that I wasn’t there for him,” she said.
The moment, she added, made her reflect deeply on the importance of being present for loved ones despite professional commitments.
Aaryamann opens up about years of depression
In the vlog, Aaryamann also shared his personal experience with depression and anxiety, revealing that he had unknowingly struggled with it for many years.
He said that from his teenage years until his late twenties, he lived through a long period of emotional struggle.
“From around 14 or 15 until maybe 28 or 29, I think I was living in depression. I didn’t even realise it at the time,” he shared.
Aaryamann explained that adolescence brought anxiety, confusion, and emotional turmoil, which made it difficult to recognise what he was going through.
Overcoming challenges and appreciating life
The young content creator also spoke about several injuries and surgeries he experienced over the years while playing sports.
He revealed that he had broken his nose twice while playing football and had undergone multiple surgeries after injuries to his leg, hand, and even his hip.
Reflecting on those difficult experiences, he said they eventually helped him appreciate life’s better moments more deeply.
Despite the challenges, Aaryamann praised his mother for always being a strong support system and for managing both her professional life and responsibilities as a parent.
