Veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi, known for his unforgettable villainous roles in Drohkaal, Vaastav, and Kill, has finally addressed his absence from recent films. In a candid YouTube vlog, the 63-year-old revealed he is consciously stepping away from projects until he is offered roles that truly challenge and fulfill him.
“Let’s talk openly today,” he began. “I know many are wondering why I haven’t been seen on screen lately. The truth is—I’m waiting. I’m not accepting roles unless they are powerful and central. I’ve done remarkable work over the years, and now I’m holding out for something I haven’t done yet.”
Beyond acting, Vidyarthi has kept himself active as a vlogger, motivational speaker, and traveller. But when it comes to cinema, he refuses to return for stereotypical or background roles, no matter how frequent or lucrative they may be.
“I tell filmmakers: just because you haven’t cast me in those lead roles before, doesn’t mean you can’t now,” he said, encouraging them to see him beyond typecasting.
Importantly, Vidyarthi stressed that his break isn’t due to disappointment or a lack of opportunities—but a conscious choice rooted in self-worth. “I’m not sitting idle or depressed. I’m just not settling,” he affirmed.
His message is clear: he’s waiting not for work, but for meaningful work—reflecting an artist who values purpose over presence.
