The cybercrime police in the city have filed a 473-page chargesheet against six individuals in connection with abusive and derogatory social media posts targeting Vijayalakshmi Darshan, the wife of jailed Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa.
The chargesheet was submitted before the 45th ACMM Court Bengaluru, following an investigation by the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police.
Case registered after complaint
The case was registered after Vijayalakshmi lodged a complaint with police on December 24, 2025. In her complaint, she alleged that several individuals were posting obscene and derogatory comments about her and her family on social media platforms.
According to investigators, the abusive posts appeared on platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
Police arrested six men in connection with the case, including a 31-year-old software professional from Davangere.
The online harassment reportedly intensified after Vijayalakshmi spoke publicly about her husband and his acting career at an event in Davangere celebrating the success of the Kannada film The Devil.
Fake social media accounts used
In her complaint, Vijayalakshmi provided police with screenshots and links to 18 social media accounts allegedly involved in posting abusive content.
Some of these accounts operated under usernames such as “Yogi Kichcha,” “Mr Anath,” “Mahi Kichcha,” and “Virat Kichcha”.
Investigators stated in the chargesheet that several of the accused had created fake social media accounts specifically to post derogatory comments alongside photographs of Vijayalakshmi.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to uploading the posts despite being aware that the content was obscene and offensive.
Investigation continues
Police have seized mobile phones belonging to the accused and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for data analysis and evidence retrieval.
Officials said the current filing is a preliminary chargesheet and that an additional chargesheet may be submitted as the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, the accused have approached the Karnataka High Court seeking bail. The matter is scheduled to be heard on March 24.
