Mumbai, Maharashtra – In a landmark moment for Indian cinema, Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian actress to receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The announcement was made during a live press event held at Ovation Hollywood on Wednesday.
Deepika’s name was unveiled as part of the elite “Class of 2026”, which includes global icons like Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, and Stanley Tucci.
The acclaimed actress shared her joy on Instagram with a simple yet powerful word: “Gratitude…”, reflecting her appreciation for the global honour.
Deepika’s recognition is not just a personal milestone but a proud moment for Indian entertainment on the world stage. Her international breakthrough came in 2017 with her role in “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”, cementing her presence in Hollywood.
The selection committee of the Hollywood Walk of Fame carefully evaluated hundreds of nominations before choosing this year’s honorees during a meeting on June 20. The final list received official approval from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on June 25.
Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and current chairman of the Walk of Fame selection panel, stated, “We are proud to present 35 remarkable individuals who have made an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Their achievements deserve this distinguished recognition.”
This accolade not only celebrates Deepika’s achievements but also signifies a growing global appreciation for Indian talent.
