Actress starts sixth collaboration with SRK, shares first-day shoot glimpse

Deepika Padukone has officially begun filming for King, marking her sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. The duo was last seen together in Jawan, and their on-screen chemistry has consistently delighted fans since their debut in Om Shanti Om.

On Saturday, Deepika shared a candid photo on Instagram, holding Shah Rukh Khan’s hand on the first day of shooting. Along with the picture, she reflected on a lesson she learned from him nearly 18 years ago: “The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together. #king #day1.”

Previous collaborations

King will mark the sixth film featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone together. Their previous hits include:

  • Om Shanti Om (2007)
  • Chennai Express (2013)
  • Happy New Year (2014)
  • Pathaan (2023)
  • Jawan (2023)

Fans are eagerly anticipating their reunion, with excitement building around the new project.

Exit from Kalki 2898 AD and other projects

This announcement comes shortly after Deepika Padukone was officially dropped from Kalki 2898 AD, the sequel to Prabhas’ blockbuster film. Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed the decision on X, stating: “After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. A film like Kalki 2898 AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”

Earlier reports had also suggested that Deepika had been replaced in Prabhas’s Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, with Triptii Dimri stepping into the role.

Despite these changes, Deepika’s collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan in King is already generating significant buzz, promising another blockbuster in their string of successful films.
