Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues its impressive theatrical run, inching closer to breaking the historic domestic box office record held by Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. Despite a slight midweek dip, the film remains one of the biggest earners in Indian cinema history.
According to trade estimates, the film collected ₹7.90 crore net on Day 21 (April 8), taking its total domestic net collection to ₹1,041.27 crore. The film is now firmly positioned among the highest-grossing Indian films ever.
Steady run despite weekday dip
After a strong third-week hold, Dhurandhar 2 saw collections drop below the ₹10 crore mark on Wednesday. However, the numbers remain robust for a film in its third week.
On Tuesday, the film earned ₹10.10 crore, indicating stable weekday performance. The current dip is being seen as routine rather than concerning, especially given the film’s massive overall earnings.
The film was screened across 13,093 shows on Day 21, reflecting its continued dominance in theatres nationwide.
Global collections cross ₹1,650 crore
The worldwide performance of Dhurandhar 2 has been equally remarkable. On Day 21, the film added ₹3.00 crore from overseas markets, pushing its international total to ₹407.00 crore.
With this, the film’s worldwide gross collection has climbed to an impressive ₹1,653.67 crore, cementing its blockbuster status globally.
Closing in on Pushpa 2’s record
Dhurandhar 2 is now eyeing the domestic record set by Pushpa 2, which stands at ₹1,234.10 crore net in India.
To surpass this milestone and become India’s highest-grossing film domestically, the Ranveer Singh-starrer needs an additional ₹192.83 crore. Given its current momentum and upcoming weekend boost, trade analysts believe the film still has a realistic chance of achieving the feat.
Strong opening and weekly breakdown
The film had a thunderous start at the box office, collecting ₹102.55 crore on its opening day (March 19), boosted further by ₹43 crore from paid previews.
- Week 1: ₹674.17 crore
- Week 2: ₹263.65 crore
During its first week, daily collections consistently ranged between ₹40 crore and ₹60 crore, showcasing exceptional audience demand. In the second week, numbers stabilised between ₹20 crore and ₹30 crore per day.
Although collections slowed in the third week, the film continues to maintain a strong hold, a sign of sustained audience interest.
Surpasses Baahubali 2 milestone
In a major achievement, Dhurandhar 2 has already overtaken the domestic net collection of S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which had earned ₹1,030.42 crore in India.
This milestone further underlines the scale of the film’s success and its position among the all-time greats of Indian cinema.
