DK Shivakumar’s remarks on Sandalwood stars spark debate
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar’s warning to Sandalwood stars for not supporting state-related events, including the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival, has divided the film fraternity.
While producer-actor Sa Ra Govindu acknowledged Shivakumar’s concerns, he criticized his choice of words, calling them hurtful. BJP MP and actor Jaggesh blamed last-minute invitations, citing instances where invites arrived just an hour before the event. Director Girish Kasaravalli also criticized the poor organization, revealing he wasn’t invited despite his film being screened.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy president Sadhu Kokila defended the invitation process, stating that while some may have missed out, efforts were made to reach all. Actor Ramya supported Shivakumar but urged politicians to avoid threatening film personalities.
