Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi recently shed light on the deep-seated negativity and lack of camaraderie within the Bollywood film industry. Speaking in an interview with Siddharth Kanan, he candidly discussed how jealousy and competition often overshadow genuine support among peers.

Emraan expressed concern about the industry’s tendency to tear each other down, saying, “You often hear that the industry isn’t united — and that’s absolutely true. I’ve sensed it myself.” He went on to label this attitude as “crab mentality,” where people aren’t sincerely happy about others’ achievements.

He added, “If a film succeeds, someone will say the box office numbers are fake. Credibility has become questionable, and it seems people focus more on others’ journeys than their own.”

Hashmi believes this misplaced focus might be one of the reasons why some films don’t work. “Why worry so much about someone else’s success or failure? Focus on your craft. That’s what really matters.”

When asked if he personally faced such negativity, Emraan admitted, “No one says it to your face, but it’s there in the background. Still, I can’t say the industry has shut its doors on me even when some of my films didn’t do well.”

On the work front, Emraan will next be seen in ‘Ground Zero’, playing BSF Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dube, with a release slated for April 25.
