Hyderabad: Ester Noronha, a renowned actress, was conferred the prestigious Smt. Indira Gandhi National Award during an event organised by Kala Darbaar – Hyderabad. The award was presented as part of the celebrations commemorating the 107th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi.

The grand ceremony taking place at the Allied Artists Auditorium, where prominent personalities from various fields were honoured for their contributions to their respective domains. Ester Noronha, celebrated for her stellar performances and dedication to cinema, was one of the key awardees recognised during the event.

The event brought together eminent personalities, including chief guest Dr. S. Venugopalachari and special invitees who graced the occasion. Kala Darbaar, which has been promoting arts and culture for over 49 years, organised the event to honour individuals excelling in their fields.

Ester Noronha’s journey in the entertainment industry is marked by diverse and impactful roles across languages and mediums. She made her debut in the non-commercial Bollywood film “Baromas”, which gained international recognition by being screened and nominated at prestigious film festivals, including the 2012 South Asian International Film Festival in New York and the DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) in Washington, DC.

In 2013, Ester ventured into Telugu cinema when she was cast by director Teja in “1000 Abaddalu”. Her performance in the film earned her acclaim, and she was soon signed for the movie “Bhimavaram Bullodu” opposite Sunil.

Ester expanded her artistic repertoire in 2017 by debuting on the Konkani tiatr stage as a singer in Mariano Fernandes’ play “Goy, Goykar, Goykarponn” (Goa, Goan, Goaness). Most recently, in June 2023, she showcased her acting talents in the Konkani play “Mhoji Khori Maim” (My Real Mother) by Comedian Brian.
