The action film Fateh, starring Sonu Sood, had a modest debut at the domestic box office, earning an estimated Rs 2.45 crore on its opening day. Despite the film’s promising storyline, focusing on cybercrime, justice, and resilience, the response was lukewarm, with the earnings falling below expectations. The film had initially been projected to earn between Rs 70 lakh and Rs 1 crore, making its Rs 2.45 crore opening slightly better than anticipated.
This marks Sonu Sood’s return as the lead actor, a role his fans had been eagerly waiting for, especially after his well-recognized philanthropic efforts during the pandemic. However, the film struggled to generate much buzz despite the high expectations.
Industry experts are hopeful that positive word-of-mouth may help the film’s performance over the weekend, though maintaining momentum could prove challenging. Early estimates suggest that Fateh may earn around Rs 40 crore in its lifetime, especially with stiff competition from other major releases like Ram Charan’s Game Changer, which debuted with an estimated Rs 51 crore, and Pushpa 2, which continues to perform well in its sixth weekend.
Salman Khan also extended his support to Fateh, revealing his connection to the song “Heer,” which was initially meant for one of his own projects. His gesture has been appreciated by Sonu Sood, who thanked Salman for his contribution.
The success of Fateh now depends on how it performs with audiences and whether it can build positive momentum over the weekend.
