A simple joke on “India’s Got Latent” has snowballed into a massive controversy for YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, with multiple FIRs filed against him, and police investigations from various states. What started as a public backlash has now evolved into a fierce debate about harassment and accountability, dividing opinions on social media.
Gaurav Taneja, known as Flying Beast, initially criticized Ranveer but quickly reversed his stance. In a passionate Instagram video, Taneja accused the situation of being less about justice and more about harassment. He pointed out the unfair targeting of people unrelated to the joke, including show editors and past guests. With multiple FIRs piling up, even Ranveer was forced to approach the Supreme Court to consolidate the charges. Taneja also took aim at YouTube, questioning why the platform remains unaccountable for hosting controversial content while creators bear the brunt of the backlash.
Adding fuel to the fire, ex-WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar, known as Sanga, entered the fray with personal threats, demanding punishment for Ranveer. His violent message, targeting Ranveer in person, sparked outrage online, with many accusing him of hypocrisy.
The controversy erupted after a crude question on the show about parents, which led to widespread criticism and Samay Raina, the host, removing all related content. Despite Ranveer’s apology, he still faces legal scrutiny, with police visits and summons hanging over him.
