Bollywood fans were left concerned on Thursday after reports emerged that veteran actor Govinda was rushed to hospital following a sudden spell of uneasiness and fainting. The 61-year-old was admitted to CitiCare Hospital, the same facility where he had earlier been treated for an accidental gun-related injury to his leg last year.
According to his team, Govinda received immediate medical attention and was discharged shortly afterwards. The actor appeared calm and cheerful while interacting with the media outside the hospital, assuring fans that he was in good health.
Wife Sunita says fainting episode linked to workout routine
Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, addressed his health situation through her latest YouTube vlog after returning from a trip. She revealed that she learned about the incident through online updates before receiving detailed information from home.
Responding to fans who expressed worry, Sunita clarified that the actor had been rigorously preparing for his upcoming film Duniyadaari.
“Govinda is completely fit. He was working out to prepare for his new film when he fainted,” she said.
She added that the actor had likely experienced fatigue due to over-exertion. “I saw an interview which mentioned that he suffered tiredness because of over-exercising. But he’s doing well now. There’s nothing to worry about.”
Her reassurances helped calm fans, especially after a week in which veteran actors Dharmendra and Prem Chopra had also experienced health scares.
Addressing the recent apology controversy
Sunita, known for her candid nature, also used her vlog to address a recent controversy surrounding Govinda’s public apology to his family priest. The actor had apologised after remarks made by Sunita during her appearance on the podcast Abraa Kaa Dabra with Paras S Chhabra, where she had referred to the priest as a “chor” while narrating a personal incident.
Clarifying her position, Sunita said, “I never mentioned anyone’s name. I was sharing one of our personal experiences. If anyone felt hurt by my words, I apologise to them and to all priests.”
However, she expressed disappointment that Govinda apologised publicly:
“I didn’t like how he apologised with folded hands. He has three different priests — there was no need for him to name anyone or apologise publicly. I felt very bad that he had to do that because of me.”
Her message on trust and relationships resonates with viewers
During the vlog, Sunita also answered a fan’s query on how trust can be built in a relationship. Her response quickly gained traction among viewers for its honesty and directness.
“Be loyal. Give her time. Stay true to her. Don’t even think of cheating, because when a wife is hurt, even the strongest man can fall,” she said.
The statement sparked conversations online about loyalty, emotional responsibility, and mutual respect in long-term partnerships.
Fans relieved as actor resumes normal schedule
Sources close to the family said that Govinda has resumed his routine and is focusing on recovering his strength gradually while preparing for Duniyadaari. The actor, known for his vibrant screen presence and comic timing, has maintained a relatively low profile in recent years but continues to enjoy a loyal fan base.
Fans flooded social media with prayers and well-wishes after news of his hospital visit surfaced. Many expressed relief after he appeared before the cameras, smiling and assuring everyone that he was “perfectly fine”.
With clarifications from both the actor’s team and Sunita Ahuja, the episode appears to have been brief and non-serious. Nonetheless, the incident reignited concerns about the health of Bollywood’s senior stars, especially following multiple health-related updates from the film industry in recent weeks
