Ahmedabad: Hrithik Roshan-starrer “Super 30”, which is based on the life of Anand Kumar, who runs the Super 30 programme for IIT-JEE aspirants from poor families, has been made tax-free by the Gujarat and Delhi governments.

The film has already been made tax-free by the Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar governments.

Kumar, the Patna-based educationist, feels the move will help take the film’s message of the value of merit and equal opportunities to all more teachers and students.

“Many thanks Hon’ble Gujarat CM Vijay Rupaniji for making ‘Super 30’ tax-free. Your kind gesture will help students and teachers watch the film and take its message. Thanks a lot,” Kumar tweeted on Tuesday evening after Gujarat government’s decision. Hrithik, who essays Kumar’s character in the film, tweeted: “Thank you Vijay Rupaniji, for rewarding our efforts and declaring Super 30 tax-free in Gujarat. Team Super 30 is deeply overwhelmed by your kind gesture.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia made the announcement shortly after Anand Kumar visited the Shaheed Hemu Kalani Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi and interacted with the students. “His work and personality are (an) inspiration for all (the) teachers across the country, as children from humble backgrounds achieve their IIT-JEE dreams. This is what it truly means to be a ‘guru’,” Sisodia tweeted.

Responding to the film’s tax free announcement, Anand Kumar tweeted: “Thanks a lot to Delhi Education Minister for the kind gesture… It was a pleasure visiting a government school.”

Hrithik Roshan also thanked the Delhi government: “Thank you Sisodia for considering us worthy of being a part of the nation builders team and announcing Super30 tax-free in Delhi.”

The movie collected over Rs 50 crore at the box-office within three days of its release on July 12 and is still going strong.
