Mumbai Police conducted an identification parade on Wednesday in connection with the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan. Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi nationalist, is accused of stabbing Khan during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence on January 16. Shehzad was arrested last month and is currently in judicial remand.

The identification parade took place at Arthur Road Jail, where Shehzad is being held. Saif Ali Khan’s house help and staff nurse attended the parade and identified the accused. The entire process was supervised by the tehsildar, following a court order. The police have gathered strong evidence, including CCTV footage and a positive facial recognition test, linking Shehzad to the crime.

The incident led to widespread rumors, including doubts about the suspect’s fingerprints and appearance matching those in the CCTV footage. However, additional police commissioner Paramjit Singh Dahiya recently refuted these rumors, asserting that the right person was arrested.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times during the attempted robbery and underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital. He spent five days in the hospital before being discharged. Following the attack, his security has been increased, with his safety now being managed by Ronit.
