New Delhi: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has clarified that he does not wish to be associated with protests or political debates after being asked about an ongoing demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar during a recent Instagram Live session.
The 42-year-old artiste said he was unaware of the protest and emphasised that his role is that of an entertainer, not a politician.
‘I am an artiste, not a politician’
Responding to a fan’s question about the protest, Diljit said he preferred to stay away from such matters.
“Bro, keep me away from protests and such things. I am an artiste, not a politician. Everything in life can never be perfect. The world can never be completely free of problems,” he said during the live session.
He also quoted a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib, saying, “Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhaar,” highlighting the spiritual message that everyone faces hardships and true peace comes through faith.
Diljit concluded by extending his good wishes to all sides, reiterating that he was unfamiliar with the issue and therefore did not wish to comment further.
Protest at Jantar Mantar
The protest in question is being organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The demonstrators have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment and examination processes.
Students and supporters from various states have joined the protest, calling for greater transparency and accountability in public examinations and recruitment systems.
The agitation also received support after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk participated through a hunger strike.
Diljit focused on films and music
On the professional front, Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in “Main Vaapas Aaunga,” directed by Imtiaz Ali. The Partition-era drama, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina, has performed well at the box office and received positive reviews from audiences.
The singer-actor is currently engaged with his Aura Tour 2026, performing at multiple international venues.
While Diljit remains one of India’s most popular entertainers, his latest remarks make it clear that he intends to keep his focus on music and cinema rather than political or protest-related issues.
