India blocks Pakistani actors’ social media accounts after Kashmir attack
In a significant move following the deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir, India took action against prominent Pakistani actors, including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, and Ali Zafar, by blocking their Instagram accounts. This decision came just days after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 Indian nationals were killed, with New Delhi blaming Islamabad for the assault.
The terrorists targeted vacationers in the scenic valley, separating the men, questioning their religion, and shooting them at point-blank range. The attack also claimed the life of one Nepali national. In response to the tragedy, Indian authorities took further steps, including banning 16 Pakistani YouTube channels accused of spreading provocative and inflammatory content.
Hania Aamir, known for her roles in Pakistani dramas such as “Mere Humsafar” and “Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum”, expressed her sorrow over the attack, emphasizing that pain and grief transcend borders. She posted a heartfelt message calling for humanity and unity in the face of such tragedies.
The escalation continued as India announced a series of punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and downgrading diplomatic ties. Pakistan retaliated by closing its airspace to Indian airliners and halting trade with India, including through third countries, stating that any disruption to water flow would be seen as an “act of war.”
