New Delhi: Business magnate and Karisma Kapoor’s former husband, Sunjay Kapur, passed away at the age of 53 after reportedly suffering a heart attack while playing polo in the United Kingdom on Thursday.
Known for his deep passion for the sport, Sunjay was engaged in a match when the cardiac arrest occurred. His sudden death has left both the business and entertainment communities in shock.
Sunjay Kapur, the son of late industrialist Surinder Kapur, played a pivotal role in expanding his family’s business legacy. He was the Chairman of Sona Comstar (formerly Sona BLW Precision Forgings), a leading manufacturer in the automotive component sector. Taking charge after his father’s passing in 2015, Sunjay helped the company grow its international footprint. He also served as President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and held board positions in several other companies.
In his personal life, Sunjay was widely known for his marriage to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003. The couple had two children together — daughter Samaira (born in 2005) and son Kiaan. Their marriage ended in divorce, after which Sunjay remarried in 2017 to Priya Sachdev, a model and entrepreneur.
Friends, colleagues, and family are mourning the loss of a dynamic leader, devoted father, and avid sportsman.
The news has sent a wave of condolences across industries, with many remembering Sunjay for his business acumen and love for life.
