Legendary screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar recently marked his 80th birthday with grand celebrations, which continued for days. The festivities kicked off with a birthday bash hosted by filmmaker Farah Khan. In addition to this, Akhtar’s children, Zoya and Farhan Akhtar, along with his wife Shibani Dandekar, organized a special movie night in his honor. The intimate gathering was shared by Shabana Azmi, who posted a heartfelt Instagram video, describing the event as “glorious.”
The video captures a touching moment between Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, sharing a side hug while watching fireworks light up the night sky. The garden was beautifully decorated with lights, flowers, and stunning decorations, creating a magical ambiance. Shabana Azmi expressed her gratitude, mentioning the surprise fireworks from their neighbor, R Nigam, that added to the charm of the evening.
The birthday celebrations also featured an intimate gathering with close friends from the film industry, including Sajid Khan, Vikas Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Sunita Kapoor, and Bigg Boss 18 winners Karan Veer Mehra and Chum Darang. The highlight was Javed Akhtar cutting his birthday cake while everyone sang Happy Birthday.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Javed Akhtar reflected on the best gift of his life – the success of his children. He expressed immense pride in Farhan and Zoya Akhtar’s accomplishments, calling them the greatest gifts he could ever receive.
