New Delhi: Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer Jolly LLB 3 has had a promising start at the box office with steady growth through the opening weekend. While the film did not score a bumper opening, positive word of mouth helped it sustain momentum, especially on Saturday and Sunday, before witnessing the expected dip on Monday.

Opening weekend performance

Released on Friday, Jolly LLB 3 opened with collections of ₹12.5 crore on Day 1. On Saturday, the film witnessed an impressive jump of more than 50 per cent, earning ₹20 crore, followed by a further rise on Sunday with ₹21 crore.

The four-day total, including early estimates for Monday, now stands at ₹59 crore, according to data from trade tracker Sacnilk. The Monday drop was anticipated, with collections holding in the ₹5.5 crore range, suggesting that the film may manage to remain stable through the week.

Regional trends

While the Mumbai circuit underperformed compared to expectations, major centres there showed better growth on Saturday. In contrast, Delhi/UP and East Punjab circuits delivered outstanding results, with East Punjab alone contributing an extraordinary 13.5 per cent share of the national total. Trade experts believe the film’s farmer-related backdrop has struck a chord in these regions, much like Jolly LLB 2 did earlier.

Markets in UP, Rajasthan, and Bihar also reported strong openings, though their growth was comparatively softer over the weekend.

Competition from Navratri

With the onset of Navratri festivities and late-night garba celebrations across many parts of the country, trade analysts caution that evening and night shows may see some impact during the coming week. However, the organic growth observed over the weekend is a positive sign for the film’s long-term prospects.

Comparisons and outlook

Industry trackers have drawn parallels between Jolly LLB 3 and Sitaare Zameen Par, another film that overperformed in northern circuits. Given the film’s upward trajectory, strong regional connect, and a solid weekend performance, Jolly LLB 3 appears well on its way to becoming a box office success.
