Day 25 collection and total earnings

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Kantara: Chapter 1 earned around ₹10 crore on Day 25, bringing its India total to ₹589 crore across all languages. The film has seen remarkable occupancy rates, with Kannada at 40.51%, Telugu at 26.50%, Hindi at 35.72%, Tamil at 49.24%, and Malayalam at 24.81% on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The Rishab Shetty directorial, produced by Hombale Films, has officially become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, surpassing Chhaava’s lifetime earnings. The studio stated that the film has crossed ₹809 crore globally, though independent trackers like Sacnilk have pegged its worldwide total closer to ₹775 crore after 21 days.

A record-breaking start

The film opened with ₹61.85 crore on Day 1, marking one of the biggest opening days in Kannada cinema history. Over the first weekend, Kantara: Chapter 1 collected ₹45.4 crore on Day 2, ₹55 crore on Day 3, and ₹63 crore on Day 4, achieving an explosive start.

By the end of its first week, the total collection reached ₹337.4 crore, with ₹147.85 crore added in the second week and ₹78.85 crore in the third. Karnataka remained the film’s biggest market, contributing ₹181 crore, while the Hindi version brought in ₹192 crore, and the Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam versions continued to perform steadily.

On October 25 alone, the movie collected ₹9 crore, proving its consistent draw among audiences.

Beating its predecessor

The 2022 original Kantara had grossed ₹407.82 crore worldwide on a modest ₹16 crore budget, becoming a cultural and box-office phenomenon. Its sequel has now more than doubled that success, making Kantara: Chapter 1 one of the top 15 highest-grossing Indian films of all time and the 12th biggest hit in India’s box office history, surpassing Baahubali in just 11 days.

Rukmini Vasanth on playing Kanakavathi

Actress Rukmini Vasanth, who plays the pivotal role of Kanakavathi, shared her experience with Cinema Express, saying, “As Kanakavathi, I had to emotionally connect with the rituals, the music, and the atmosphere. Honestly, Kanakavathi is not anything like me.”

She added, “Isn’t getting to embody different worlds and characters the best part of being an actor? If I don’t connect with the core of the character, how will the audience?”
