Veteran Bollywood personalities Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor are mourning the loss of their beloved mother, Nirmal Kapoor, who died at the age of 90 on May 2 in Mumbai, according to news agency ANI.
Dr. Santosh Shetty, CEO of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, confirmed that Nirmal Kapoor “passed away peacefully around 5:25 pm” on Thursday.
In videos circulating online, grieving family members gathered at the Kapoor residence. Boney Kapoor was seen with his daughter Anshula Kapoor, while Shikhar Pahariya was spotted consoling Janhvi Kapoor, who appeared deeply emotional. Other family members, including Shanaya Kapoor and Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, were also present.
Several celebrities such as Javed Akhtar, Padmini Kolhapure, and Rajkumar Santoshi arrived to pay their last respects.
Nirmal Kapoor celebrated her milestone 90th birthday in September 2024, surrounded by her family. On the occasion, Anil Kapoor shared cherished memories on Instagram, calling her “90 years of love, strength, and endless sacrifices.”
She was the wife of late film producer Surinder Kapoor and the proud mother of four children: Boney, Anil, Sanjay, and Reena Kapoor Marwah. Nirmal Kapoor was also the grandmother to many Bollywood stars, including Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and others.
Her legacy as the matriarch of one of Bollywood’s most influential families will be remembered fondly.
