Kim Kardashian recently shared an amusing and surprising reflection on her trip to India, admitting she had expected the experience to mirror the magical world of Disney’s Aladdin. The reality TV star, alongside her sister Khloé Kardashian, made a brief 48-hour visit to Mumbai last July to attend the extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Asia’s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant. The wedding, deeply rooted in Hindu traditions, attracted an array of A-list celebrities, but it was Kim’s unexpected culture shock that became the highlight of their recent reality show episode, aired on March 15, 2025.

Upon arriving in Mumbai at midnight, the sisters immediately began preparing for their ceremonial outfits. Khloé explained in a confessional, “We’re only here for 48 hours, and we do have a schedule,” adding that they planned to visit some local markets before attending the wedding. Kim shared her excitement, eager to explore the city. However, when they hit the bustling streets of Mumbai, their expectations didn’t align with reality. “I thought it was going to be like the marketplace,” Kim said, drawing a comparison to Aladdin‘s iconic scenes. “What you see Aladdin going through and stealing the bread from, that’s where I thought we were going.”

Instead, the chaotic streets, filled with rickshaws and honking horns, left Kim feeling a little overwhelmed. “This is like the streets,” she remarked, while Khloé humorously pointed out, “We are not in Calabasas anymore.” Even a stray dog caught Kim off guard, with Khloé trying to find some comfort in saying, “At least there’s a Starbucks here.”

Despite her initial surprise, the sisters eventually embraced Mumbai’s vibrant energy, hopping into a rickshaw and picking up a Princess Jasmine figurine for Kim’s daughter Chicago, along with jewelry and silver pill boxes for their family.

Kim also addressed a wardrobe dilemma: wearing red to the wedding, a color traditionally reserved for brides in Hindu culture. She clarified, “In the olden days in India, you couldn’t wear red. But now red is accepted, so I’m gonna wear red.” She assured viewers that the Ambani family-approved all their outfits in advance.

Despite the unexpected moments, Kim ended on a high note, saying, “I just feel like Princess Jasmine. This is where I am meant to be,” reaffirming her love for the Disney-inspired vibe she had hoped to find in India.
