A case has been filed in Solapur, Maharashtra, against 12 individuals for allegedly assaulting stand-up comedian Pranit More after his jokes targeted actor Veer Pahariya, the grandson of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. The incident occurred following More’s performance on Sunday, where a group of 10 to 12 people, angered by his humor, reportedly attacked him.
According to More’s statement shared on social media, the assailants “brutally attacked him, punching and kicking him repeatedly, leaving him injured.” More later posted about the incident on his Instagram account, and a complaint was filed by the restaurant owner where the performance took place. Although the police summoned More to record his statement, he failed to appear, prompting the registration of a case.
In a follow-up post, More named Tanveer Shaikh as the leader of the group and revealed a threat made to him: “Agli Baar Veer Pahariya baba pe joke maarke dikha!”—a clear warning that further jokes about the actor would lead to severe consequences.
In response to the incident, Veer Pahariya condemned the violence, stating on his Instagram Stories, “I am truly shocked and saddened by what happened to Comedian Pranit More. I want to make it absolutely clear—I had no involvement in this, and I strongly condemn any form of violence.”
