Food lovers in Bengaluru are set to experience the rich and nostalgic flavours of Karada cuisine as MasterChef India contestant Avani Sharma hosts a special Chef’s Table pop-up later this month.

The exclusive vegetarian dining experience will take place at Watson’s Cantina on May 31 and promises guests an immersive journey through one of India’s lesser-known culinary traditions rooted in the Karada community.

A celebration of forgotten food traditions

Karada cuisine, believed to have over 600 years of history, draws influence from Maharashtrian heritage and the coastal flavours of Kasargod and Mangaluru. Known for its coconut-forward preparations, seasonal ingredients and soulful home-style cooking, the cuisine reflects deep cultural traditions passed down through generations.

Chef Avani Sharma, known for her appearance on MasterChef India, has earned recognition for reviving regional Indian cuisines through curated dining experiences. A Bengaluru-based visual artist and culinary storyteller, she blends food with memory, culture and emotion.

The pop-up aims to introduce diners to flavours and rituals that are slowly disappearing from mainstream dining spaces.

Guests can expect a traditional vegetarian feast

The Chef’s Table will feature carefully curated vegetarian dishes inspired by traditional Karada recipes and cooking methods. Slow-cooked preparations, regional ingredients and nostalgic flavours will form the heart of the experience.

The event will be hosted at Watson’s in Kodava Samaja Building, Vasanth Nagar on Sunday, May 31, from 12:45 pm onwards. The experience is priced at ₹2,500 plus taxes.

The event is expected to attract food enthusiasts interested in heritage cuisine, regional culinary storytelling and immersive dining experiences.
