Miss World pageant set to boost Telangana’s global image
With the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant set to unfold in Telangana this month, contestants from around the globe have begun arriving in Hyderabad. Among the first to land were Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison from Canada and Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso from Brazil, who received a traditional welcome at the city’s international airport. The welcoming team also greeted Jonathan Mark Shaw, a Miss World official.
The pageant will take place from May 10 to 31, with both the opening and closing ceremonies, including the grand finale, scheduled in Hyderabad. Contestants from 120 countries will arrive between May 2 and 8, further spotlighting Telangana as a global event destination.
The state government has prepared an extensive plan to capitalize on this global platform, aiming to enhance Telangana’s brand image and attract international investments. By leveraging the Miss World contest, officials plan to showcase Telangana’s rich historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage. The event, broadcast in over 150 countries, will present Telangana’s tourism potential and highlight its UNESCO sites, eco-tourism spots, and state-of-the-art medical facilities.
The Miss World contestants will also explore iconic tourist sites, including Nizam-era heritage in Hyderabad and the UNESCO-listed Ramappa temple in Warangal. Telangana’s police department has vowed to ensure top-notch security for the participants and their guests, further reinforcing the state’s international appeal.
