Kochi: Mohanlal has begun dubbing for Athimanoharam, the upcoming Malayalam film directed by Tharun Moorthy. The makers announced the development on social media on Wednesday, October 14, sharing pictures of the actor at the dubbing studio.
The film marks the reunion of Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy following their successful collaboration on Thudarum. Expectations are high for the upcoming project, which combines a police procedural with elements of family drama.
Mohanlal plays police officer TS Lovelajan
In Athimanoharam, Mohanlal plays TS Lovelajan, a police officer, while Meera Jasmine portrays his wife, Naisy. The film is written by Ratheesh Ravi, known for his work on Malayalam films such as Pullikkaran Staraa, Ishq, Adi and Maharani.
The story is described as a blend of police investigation and family drama, bringing together crime-related elements and personal relationships. Further details about the plot have not been officially disclosed.
The film completed its shooting schedule in September after approximately 115 days of filming. With dubbing now underway, the production has moved into its post-production phase ahead of its planned theatrical release.
Strong supporting cast and technical crew
Besides Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine, Athimanoharam features an ensemble cast comprising Binu Pappu, Bhama Arun, Manoj K Jayan, Jagadish, Mukesh and Lalu Alex, among others.
The technical team includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, composer Jakes Bejoy, editor Vivek Harshan and sound designer Vishnu Govind. Their contributions will shape the film’s visual presentation, music, editing and sound design as the makers prepare it for release.
Producer Ashiq Usman is backing the project under his production banner, Ashiq Usman Productions.
Christmas release planned for December 24
As announced earlier, Athimanoharam is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 24, positioning it as a Christmas release. The festive-season launch places the film among the Malayalam cinema releases expected to draw audiences during the holiday period.
The reunion of Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy is a key talking point surrounding the project, particularly after the response to Thudarum. The new film sees the actor take on the role of a police officer while exploring a narrative that also focuses on family relationships.
With filming completed and dubbing underway, the team is working towards its December release. Further updates on the film, including promotional material and other release-related announcements, are expected as the theatrical date approaches.
