Mumbai: Actor Mrunal Thakur has shared a heartfelt perspective on friendships in the film industry, revealing how her bond with Tamannaah Bhatia changed her outlook on female friendships.

Speaking during a podcast interview, Mrunal said she once believed she could never form close friendships with women while growing up, but that perception has evolved over time.

From hesitation to strong sisterhood

Mrunal candidly admitted that she grew up surrounded mostly by male friends and often felt she could not connect deeply with female friendships.

“Growing up, I always thought I could never be friends with girls. It was always five boys and one girl, and that girl would be me,” she said.

However, her bond with Tamannaah has transformed that belief. The actor described Tamannaah as a source of strength and positivity in her life.

“She is the purest. She has my heart and gives me so much strength. She always tells me to chill, have fun and enjoy life,” Mrunal shared, adding that their relationship feels like a “sisterhood”.

A friendship built on support

The actor emphasised how meaningful female friendships can be, describing them as supportive, motivating and emotionally fulfilling.

According to Mrunal, their bond allows her to be completely open and unfiltered. “I can tell her anything, and she always has a solution,” she said.

The duo reportedly met on a flight to Hyderabad, and their connection grew quickly into a close friendship. Since then, they have remained supportive of each other’s personal and professional journeys.

Breaking stereotypes in the film industry

Mrunal’s remarks also challenge the long-standing perception that female actors in the film industry cannot maintain strong friendships.

Interestingly, Tamannaah had earlier echoed similar sentiments. On Friendship Day last year, she shared a post celebrating her bond with fellow actors including Kajal Aggarwal and Rasha Thadani.

In her message, Tamannaah highlighted the importance of adult friendships, calling them deeply meaningful and emotionally supportive.

She noted that such friendships go beyond casual interactions and are built on care, understanding and consistent communication.

Work front and upcoming projects

On the professional front, Mrunal Thakur was last seen in Do Deewane Seher Mein, alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film, however, did not perform well at the box office.

She is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Dacoit, where she will star alongside Adivi Sesh and Anurag Kashyap. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 10.

Conclusion

Mrunal Thakur’s reflections highlight how perspectives on friendships can evolve over time. Her bond with Tamannaah Bhatia not only showcases a strong personal connection but also challenges stereotypes about relationships among female actors, promoting a more supportive and inclusive narrative within the industry.
