Mumbai: Nani-starrer The Paradise has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on September 24, 2026. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film marks Nani’s reunion with the filmmaker after their previous collaboration Dasara.
The certification comes as the makers continue the promotional campaign for the action drama, which has already generated attention with its teaser and songs, including ‘Aaya Sher’ and ‘Yeshanagula’.
The ‘A’ certificate means that the film has been certified for adult audiences. The makers announced the certification on social media with the message, “While the emotion of the film is for everyone… JADAL’s rawness is strictly for the adults.”
Nani plays Jadal
The Paradise centres on Nani’s character Jadal, with the actor set to appear in a role described by the makers as intense and raw. The film reunites Nani and Srikanth Odela following Dasara, which marked the director’s debut and featured Nani in the lead.
The makers have been using Jadal as a central element of the film’s promotional campaign, with the phrase ‘Jadal Zamana’ also being used in the film’s promotional material.
The upcoming film has music by Anirudh Ravichander and features an ensemble cast that includes Mohan Babu, Raghav Juyal, Sonali Kulkarni and Sampoornesh Babu, among others.
CBFC asks for multiple cuts
The CBFC certification process resulted in several modifications to the film. According to the certification details shared by the makers, alternate visuals involving a crow and the National Flag were required to be used.
The visuals involving a pregnant woman at the beginning of the film were also modified. A foul word was permitted at one place but was muted in other instances. A tattoo containing a foul word on a character was covered using computer-generated imagery (CGI).
The CBFC also directed the deletion of the term ‘denotified tribe’.
The board further sought reductions in the duration of violent stabbing visuals. Ten other scenes containing violence, torture and bloodshed were removed as part of the certification process.
References to armed struggle modified
Several dialogues and references were also changed or muted. At three places, references concerning armed struggle against the country were modified or muted.
A reference to a real-life assassination and a historical event was also muted. In addition, a reference to a real-life cigarette brand was censored.
Following the required modifications, The Paradise was passed by the CBFC on September 21.
The censor certificate lists the film’s duration as 173.04 minutes. This translates to 2 hours, 53 minutes and 4 seconds, making it a nearly three-hour theatrical film.
Eight-language worldwide release
Produced by SLV Cinemas, The Paradise is scheduled to release worldwide on September 24. The film will be released in eight languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, English, Spanish, Bengali, Kannada and Malayalam.
The multilingual release is part of the makers’ plans to take the film to audiences across different regions and international markets.
With the CBFC certification now complete, the film has entered the final phase of its promotional campaign ahead of its September 24 theatrical debut. The certification and the extensive cuts to violent and other sensitive visuals have also established the film’s adult-only certification ahead of its release.
