Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha recently opened up about the unseen hurdles faced by outsiders in Bollywood, reflecting on her journey in contrast to contemporaries like Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor. In a candid chat with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Nushrratt admitted that access is a real and often overlooked struggle.

“They know the industry and the people in it. And if they don’t, their parents do,” she said, explaining that star kids have the privilege of proximity and familiarity. “They can reach places I can’t. Sometimes, I don’t even know where to knock,” she added.

Nushrratt, who debuted with Kal Kissne Dekha and gained recognition through Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), emphasized that she isn’t dismissive of the challenges faced by industry kids. “I don’t like calling them ‘nepo kids’. They have their own struggles. But they still get inroads that we don’t,” she clarified.

She shared how even getting a director’s number can feel like chasing a mirage. “If I want to meet a director, who do I ask? There’s no easy entry for people like us.”

While Chhorii 2, her recent release on Amazon Prime, didn’t strike a chord with critics or audiences, Nushrratt remains grateful. “I treasure the ones who want to work with me. They’re like family. I wish I had more ‘yes’ than ‘no’s’, but I’m proud of what I’ve done.”
