Hyderabad: Actor Ram Charan is enjoying a blockbuster run at the box office as his latest film Peddi continues its dream performance worldwide. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports drama is now inching closer to the Rs 400 crore mark globally, cementing its position as one of the biggest successes of the year.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics upon release, the film has struck a chord with audiences and maintained a strong hold at the box office during its second week.

Peddi races towards Rs 400 crore milestone

The makers recently celebrated the film’s success by sharing a special poster on social media. According to the latest figures released by the production team, Peddi has grossed Rs 393 crore worldwide within 11 days of its theatrical run.

The film has continued to attract audiences even during weekdays and witnessed a noticeable jump in collections over its second weekend. With only a few crores left to achieve the milestone, industry observers expect Peddi to cross the Rs 400 crore mark in the coming days.

The impressive performance has also earned Ram Charan the title of “Box Office Pehelwan” among fans, with the film emerging as the highest-grossing South Indian release of 2026 so far.

Controversy failed to impact collections

While the film has dominated the box office, it was also embroiled in controversy shortly after its release.

Several scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor’s character drew criticism from audiences on social media, with many alleging that the portrayal of the female lead was objectionable. Following the backlash, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a public apology and confirmed that the controversial scenes had been removed from the film.

Interestingly, during a recent success event, actor Jagapathi Babu suggested that the controversy helped keep the film in public discussion, ultimately drawing more viewers to theatres.

Star-studded cast powers the film

Apart from Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, Peddi features an ensemble cast including Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu, Jagapathi Babu, Boman Irani and Ravi Kishan in important roles.

The film has been produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the banner of Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings and IVY Entertainment. Ishan Saksena serves as co-producer.

Music for the film has been composed by AR Rahman, while cinematography has been handled by R Rathnavelu. The editing has been carried out by V Y Praveen Kumar.

Dominating the 2026 box office

Released on June 4 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, Peddi opened to strong numbers and has continued to dominate the box office across multiple markets.

The film has comfortably outperformed several competing releases and established itself as one of the biggest commercial successes in Ram Charan’s career. With momentum still on its side, Peddi is expected to add significantly to its total collections in the coming weeks.

As the sports drama approaches the Rs 400 crore milestone, the makers will be hoping to continue its successful theatrical run and set new benchmarks at the box office.
