Chennai: Actors Prabhu Deva and Simran are set to reunite on screen after 27 years for Kamal Sridevi, an upcoming romantic film directed by debutant Krishnanand Kottarapattu. The makers have completed shooting in Chennai and Munnar, and the film is now in its final stages of production.
The film is produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth under her Zion Films banner, alongside Pasilian Nazerath and Magesh Raj Pasilian of MRP Entertainment. The producers previously collaborated on With Love.
The makers have described Kamal Sridevi as a unique and soul-stirring love story. The project brings Prabhu Deva and Simran together nearly three decades after their earlier collaborations in Tamil cinema.
Prabhu Deva and Simran reunite after V.I.P. and Time
Prabhu Deva and Simran previously appeared together in the romantic dramas V.I.P. (1997) and Time (1999). Their reunion in Kamal Sridevi marks their first collaboration in 27 years, renewing interest in the pairing among Tamil film audiences.
While details about the film’s storyline and the characters played by the lead actors have not yet been revealed, the makers’ description suggests that romance will be central to the narrative.
The film is written and directed by Krishnanand Kottarapattu, who makes his directorial debut with the project. With principal shooting completed across Chennai and Munnar, the production has moved towards its final stages.
Mithun Jai Shankar and Smeha join the cast
The supporting cast includes Mithun Jai Shankar, known for Mandaadi, and Smeha, who appeared in the Vijay Antony-starrer Maargan (2025).
The film’s technical team includes composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Sharan Velayudhan, editor Raja Arumugam, art director Sekar and stunt choreographer Mahesh Mathew.
GV Prakash Kumar’s music is expected to be an important part of the romantic drama, although the makers have not announced details about its soundtrack or release schedule.
The combination of an established lead pair, a debutant director and a production team led by Soundarya Rajinikanth has brought the film into focus as it approaches completion.
