Veteran actor Prakash Raj has once again ignited conversation with his unfiltered opinions, this time targeting Bollywood for its silence on critical political issues. In a candid interview with The Lallantop, the outspoken actor emphasized the need for courage in the creative world, especially when storytelling is under threat.

Calling out the industry’s inaction, Raj claimed, “Many are either compromised or simply scared. Half of them have sold out, and the rest lack the courage.” He recalled a personal chat with a close friend who admitted his fear of speaking up. “He told me, ‘You have the courage, I don’t.’ I told him I understand, but silence cannot be excused. In history, those who stayed quiet will be judged more harshly than those who acted wrongly,” he stated.

Raj stressed that artists must remain resilient even when their work is challenged or censored. He warned that suppressive regimes often attempt to shut down tough narratives, but filmmakers should remain firm and committed. “Artists need a conscience and the strength to defend the stories they want to tell,” he urged.

Commenting on the recent ban of Abir Gulaal, featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, after the Pahalgam terror incident, Raj took a firm stand against censorship. “I don’t support banning any film unless it promotes child abuse or explicit content. Let the audience judge—it’s about choice, not control,” he concluded.
