Mumbai: Actor Radhika Apte has opened up about the distressing aftermath of an intimate clip from one of her films being leaked, revealing that the experience left her scared to step outside her home for four days.

Speaking about the challenges actors can face while filming intimate scenes, Apte explained that the situation can become particularly difficult when private material reaches the public domain and begins affecting an actor’s personal life.

“We were talking about being able to do intimate scenes, but once something I had done was leaked, I literally couldn’t step out of the house for four days,” Apte recalled.

She said the incident made her realise how quickly such controversies can move beyond the internet and reach an actor’s immediate surroundings.

Radhika Apte recalls being afraid to leave home

Apte described the experience as frightening, particularly because she was living alone in an apartment at the time.

“The problem is that it can come home very quickly. Your doorbell can ring, and somebody can be outside your house because they felt offended. So, it’s not that easy. It’s much more complicated,” she said.

The actor’s comments highlight how the consequences of leaked intimate material can extend beyond online discussions. In her case, people living and working around her had also seen the clip, making the situation increasingly uncomfortable.

Apte recalled that even her stylist told her about people in her immediate circle discussing and watching the leaked footage.

‘My watchman had seen it as well’

According to Apte, the incident became more difficult when she discovered that people around her had access to the clip.

“But when it came to sexuality, the clip of mine leaked, and it became really difficult,” she said.

She remembered her stylist telling her that the stylist’s driver repeatedly watched the clip and even asked whether she was going to Apte’s house.

“My watchman had seen it as well. Things like that started happening, and it became very difficult to deal with,” Apte added.

The actor’s recollection shows why the incident was not simply an online controversy for her. The leaked material had begun affecting her sense of privacy and security at home.

Apte asked her staff to protect her

As the situation became increasingly uncomfortable, Apte turned to people she trusted for support.

She contacted her driver and spot dada, a member of the crew who assists an actor during filming, and explained what had happened. Apte said she wanted them to understand the situation and decide whether they were comfortable continuing to work with her.

“There is a clip that has been leaked. Have you seen it? Because if you have not, I’ll send it to you. Watch it. If you’re okay with it, then you have to protect me. Otherwise, do not work with me,” she recalled telling them.

Apte said she was prepared to let them leave if they were uncomfortable with the situation.

“Here’s your salary; you can go,” she remembered telling them.

However, their response provided her with some reassurance at a particularly difficult moment.

‘We will look after you’

Apte said both men assured her that they would stand by her.

“And they both said, ‘We will look after you’,” she recalled.

Their support was particularly meaningful because she was living alone and had become increasingly worried about what could happen outside her home.

“I was really scared because I was living alone in an apartment at the time. So yes, it can get quite tricky,” Apte said.

The actor’s account also underlines the difference between performing an intimate scene as part of a film and dealing with footage being circulated without the context or control of the original production.

Netizens link the incident to Parched

Apte did not identify the film from which the leaked clip originated while discussing the incident.

However, some social media users have linked her comments to the 2015 film Parched, in which she played Lajjo alongside Surveen Chawla, who portrayed Bijli.

The online speculation has not been confirmed by Apte in the comments cited here, and she did not name Parched while recounting the incident.

The discussion has nevertheless renewed attention on the challenges actors can face when intimate material from films becomes widely circulated outside its original context.

Radhika Apte continues to explore intimate stories

Radhika Apte has frequently been associated with films and projects that explore sexuality, relationships and complex personal experiences.

More recently, she appeared in Netflix’s Lust Stories 3, featuring an ensemble cast including Konkona Sensharma and Vijay Varma. Apte was also part of Vikramaditya Motwane’s segment, Husband Swap.

Her latest comments offer a personal perspective on the risks and emotional difficulties actors can encounter when working on intimate material.

For Apte, the experience was not limited to the circulation of a clip online. The fact that people around her had seen it and that she was living alone made the situation deeply unsettling.

Her decision to seek support from her driver and spot dada ultimately gave her some reassurance during a period when she felt vulnerable.
