New Delhi: Bhool Chuk Maaf, the much-awaited comedy-drama starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, will bypass its theatrical release and head straight to OTT. Initially slated for a May 9 cinema debut, the film will now premiere on Prime Video on May 16.

The shift comes in light of heightened security and ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. Production house Maddock Films announced the update on Instagram, stating:

“In light of the recent events and heightened security drills across the nation, we have decided to bring our family entertainer directly to your homes.”

The note added, “While we were excited for the big-screen experience, the nation’s spirit takes precedence. Jai Hind.”

Directed by Karan Sharma, the film is set in the colorful lanes of Varanasi. It follows Rajan (Rao), a hopeless romantic who takes up a government job in hopes of impressing his dream girl, Titli (Gabbi). But just before their wedding, Rajan finds himself caught in a time loop — reliving his haldi ceremony day after day, leading to a quirky yet heartwarming journey of fate, love, and second chances.

This marks Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s first collaboration on screen. Rao recently shared that his experience with similar lives around him makes his portrayal authentic and relatable.

Catch this unique blend of romance, time travel, and comedy from the comfort of your couch.
