Veteran actress Rakhee Gulzar, cherished for her iconic roles in Hindi cinema, recently made a rare public appearance at a special screening of her Bengali film ‘Amar Boss’. As she exited the theatre, she warmly interacted with reporters, offering insights into her current career path and future plans.
When asked about a possible comeback to Hindi films, Rakhee at first didn’t catch the question, but once it was repeated, she smiled gently and responded, “No, I will not do it.” With that graceful reply, she confirmed she has no intention of returning to Bollywood, despite the recent re-release of her beloved film ‘Karan Arjun’, in which she played the unforgettable role of a determined mother.
Rakhee’s presence at the screening was particularly special, as public sightings of the actress have become rare. Recently, she also delighted fans with a viral video of her joyfully eating gol gappas on a bustling Kolkata street, capturing hearts with her simplicity and warmth.
Her new film ‘Amar Boss’, directed by and starring Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay, explores a deeply emotional bond between an ailing mother and her son. Mukhopadhyay revealed he wrote the role with Rakhee in mind, stating, “When I wrote the script, I could see her in front of my eyes.”
While she may have closed the door on Hindi cinema, Rakhee Gulzar’s legacy and presence continue to enchant audiences through meaningful regional projects.
