Mumbai: Advance bookings for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend have crossed Rs 10 crore in gross collections across India, with the Hindi version accounting for the bulk of ticket sales ahead of the film’s November 5, 2026, theatrical release. Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka are leading state-wise demand, while the National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai and Bengaluru have emerged as major city markets.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film had generated Rs 10.15 crore in gross advance bookings across all languages as of 3 pm IST on October 24. The figure includes seats blocked by exhibitors. Confirmed consumer bookings, excluding blocked seats, stood at Rs 7.98 crore.

Around 1.81 lakh tickets had been sold across 4,352 tracked shows in 134 cities. The Hindi version dominated demand, while bookings for the Kannada and Telugu versions also continued to grow.

The film added Rs 35.90 lakh in advance sales between 6 am and 3 pm on October 24. The latest figures also recorded the first housefull show after an earlier period in which none of the tracked screenings had sold out.

With 12 days remaining before the scheduled release, the booking trend points to growing interest in the epic drama. However, the final opening-day performance will depend on ticket sales during the last week, the number of shows available and audience response once the film reaches theatres.

Ramayana advance booking figures on October 24

The latest reported figures show that advance sales have continued to increase as more screenings become available across the country.

MetricFigures as of October 24, 3 pm
Total advance grossRs 10.15 crore
Gross excluding blocked seatsRs 7.98 crore
Tickets soldAround 1.81 lakh
Shows tracked4,352
Cities covered134

The figures include bookings across the film’s language versions. The distinction between total gross and gross excluding blocked seats is important because tickets reserved or blocked by exhibitors are not necessarily confirmed consumer purchases.

The advance sales have risen from the figures reported a day earlier. At 11.42 am on October 23, Sacnilk had recorded more than 1.47 lakh tickets sold across 3,964 shows. The total advance gross then stood at Rs 8.27 crore, including blocked seats, and Rs 6.25 crore without them.

Between the two reported updates, the total gross rose by Rs 1.88 crore, while the gross excluding blocked seats increased by Rs 1.73 crore. The figures indicate that confirmed ticket purchases accounted for a substantial share of the additional revenue during this period.

The number of tracked shows also increased from 3,964 to 4,352, giving audiences more opportunities to book tickets. As exhibitors continue to finalise their schedules, the show count could rise further.

Maharashtra leads state-wise advance sales

Maharashtra is the largest contributor to the film’s advance gross so far, generating Rs 2.31 crore, or approximately 23 per cent of the national total.

Delhi follows with Rs 2.13 crore, while Karnataka has contributed Rs 1.45 crore. Together, these markets account for a significant portion of the reported advance sales.

The top 10 states reportedly account for 87 per cent of the total gross, indicating that demand remains concentrated in the country’s larger cinema markets.

Maharashtra’s contribution reflects strong bookings across its major urban centres, particularly Mumbai and Pune. Delhi’s figures are supported by the wider NCR market, while Karnataka’s performance is being driven in part by Bengaluru.

The regional distribution also highlights the importance of the film’s multilingual release strategy. Although the Hindi version accounts for most of the current bookings, the Kannada and Telugu versions are contributing additional sales in southern markets.

The figures are an early indicator of audience interest rather than a definitive measure of the film’s eventual box-office performance. The final outcome will depend on the pace of bookings closer to release and the number of screenings allocated in each region.

NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru drive city-level demand

The National Capital Region leads the reported city-market figures, with Rs 2.13 crore in advance gross from 27,177 tickets. Sales in the market increased by 7 per cent compared with the previous day.

Mumbai follows with Rs 1.60 crore from 22,864 tickets, representing an 8 per cent increase. The city remains a significant contributor to advance bookings, supported by its extensive multiplex network.

Bengaluru recorded the sharpest rise among the major city markets listed in the report. Its advance gross increased by 173 per cent from the previous day to Rs 1.20 crore, with 18,147 tickets sold.

The increase in Bengaluru is notable because it indicates a rapid expansion in bookings over the reported period. However, the percentage rise reflects the change from the previous day’s figure and does not, on its own, establish the city’s eventual box-office contribution.

Hyderabad generated Rs 62.09 lakh from 16,705 tickets, marking a 33 per cent increase. Pune contributed Rs 45.72 lakh from 6,452 tickets, up 8 per cent from the previous day.

The figures suggest that interest is spreading across several large markets, although the scale of demand varies by city. Further booking updates will help establish whether the momentum continues as the release approaches.

Hindi version accounts for most bookings

The Hindi version has generated Rs 8.91 crore in advance gross, accounting for approximately 88 per cent of the reported national total.

The Kannada version has collected Rs 96.57 lakh, representing around 10 per cent, while the Telugu version has generated Rs 28.11 lakh.

These reported figures show that the Hindi release is driving the film’s advance-booking performance. The Kannada and Telugu versions, however, provide additional reach in southern markets, where regional-language screenings can play an important role in the overall theatrical performance.

The film is also scheduled to release in Tamil and Malayalam. The supplied booking figures do not provide separate collections for those versions, so their individual contributions cannot be established from the available data.

Advance bookings had crossed 50,000 tickets across PVR INOX and Cinepolis by Thursday night, according to the trade report. Premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX were attracting early interest, while bookings for standard multiplex screenings were still building.

The availability of more shows and the expansion of premium-format screenings could influence the next phase of ticket sales. However, the extent of any increase will depend on confirmed bookings rather than show availability alone.

Comparison with major opening-day releases

The current advance-booking figures remain below those reported for some recent major releases. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, for instance, reportedly sold more than 9.50 lakh opening-day advance tickets across over 17,000 shows before its release.

The comparison provides a reference point for the scale of advance demand, but it does not establish how Ramayana: Rise of a Legend will perform at the box office. Differences in release schedules, ticket prices, available screenings and audience behaviour can affect the numbers.

The current tracked show count for Ramayana is also lower than that of the cited comparison title. Exhibitors could add screenings as they complete their schedules, particularly if bookings accelerate in the final days.

The report notes that show allocations were affected by earlier delays linked to a revenue-sharing dispute between distributors and cinema owners. The completion of those arrangements and the opening of additional schedules could influence the availability of tickets across markets.

The first housefull show is another development in the booking pattern. While it marks a change from the earlier situation in which no tracked screening had sold out, a single housefull show is not sufficient to establish a nationwide sell-out trend.

Final-week bookings expected to shape opening

The next major phase for the film’s advance sales is expected to begin around October 29, when exhibitors are anticipated to open fuller schedules and allocate more screens across the country.

Industry benchmarks cited in the trade report suggest that 3.5 lakh opening-day ticket sales across the three leading national cinema chains would represent a strong pre-Diwali start. A total of five lakh tickets is considered a higher target in the same estimates.

Trade discussions have also included an ambitious India net opening benchmark of Rs 70 crore. A Rs 60 crore opening has been cited as another possible foundation for the film’s theatrical run, depending on the pace of business.

These figures are expectations rather than confirmed box-office outcomes. Advance bookings are only one component of theatrical performance, and walk-in purchases, regional demand and audience reactions after release can affect the final numbers.

The film is scheduled to open on Thursday, November 5, ahead of the main Diwali festive period expected to begin around November 9. As November 5 is not itself a national holiday, the opening-day performance will not receive the full benefit of a holiday release.

Paid previews are scheduled for November 4 and could provide an additional early contribution before the nationwide theatrical rollout. The scale of that contribution will depend on the number of preview screenings and demand for available tickets.

First instalment of a two-part Ramayana adaptation

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is the first instalment in a planned two-part adaptation of the ancient epic associated with Valmiki.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi portrays Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey appears as Lakshman, Yash plays Ravana and Sunny Deol portrays Lord Hanuman.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra, with Yash also associated as a producer. Prime Focus Studios is co-producing the project in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

The first instalment is scheduled for release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The production brings together actors from different film industries and aims to reach audiences across multiple language markets.

The second instalment is currently scheduled for Diwali 2027, although the release plans for that film remain separate from the advance-booking performance of the first part.

With gross advance sales now reported at Rs 10.15 crore, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend enters the final stretch before release with bookings rising across several major markets. The coming days will be crucial in determining whether the current momentum translates into a strong opening when the film arrives in theatres on November 5.
