The first look teaser of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has taken the internet by storm. Ranbir Kapoor, portraying the revered warrior Lord Ram, has impressed many with his calm demeanor and the film’s breathtaking VFX. Some social media users are hailing it as the “pinnacle of Indian cinema.”

However, a fresh wave of comparisons has emerged. Supporters of Ram Charan have been flooding social media with his look from RRR, where he channels Lord Ram’s essence in the climax battle scene. Many feel his screen presence, physique, and intensity make him a stronger contender for the role of Lord Ram.

Ram Charan played freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in RRR, and his transformation in the climactic sequence left a lasting impact. Hours after Ranbir’s teaser dropped, fans began trending photos of Ram Charan, claiming, “No hate to Ranbir, but Ram Charan fits the role of Ram better.”

One user wrote, “Not to offend anyone, but Ram Charan truly looks like the ideal Shri Ram among today’s actors.” Another added, “Ranbir has a boyish charm, while Ram Charan brings the grace and power needed for Ram.”

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor’s fans countered the claims. “Ram Charan played a revolutionary, not Lord Ram. Ranbir portrays the real embodiment of serenity and divine calmness,” one wrote. Others emphasized the distinction between action-hero appeal and the spiritual grace needed for this mythological role.

The confirmed cast of Ramayana includes:

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Rama

  • Yash as Ravana

  • Sai Pallavi as Sita

  • Sunny Deol as Hanuman

  • Ravie Dubey as Lakshman

  • With Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman composing the music, and VFX by DNEG, Ramayana is slated for a global IMAX release — Part 1 in Diwali 2026, and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
