Bengaluru: Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon has returned to Kannada cinema with director MG Srinivas’s upcoming film A for Anand, which stars Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar in the lead.

The project marks the first time Raveena Tandon and Shivarajkumar will share screen space, adding to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming Kannada film. Raveena, who has worked across several Indian languages, has previously been part of some notable Kannada projects, including Upendra and KGF: Chapter 2.

Raveena begins shooting in Bengaluru

Raveena Tandon commenced filming for A for Anand in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The actor joined the team for her first day of shooting at the Presidency University campus.

The shoot began with an inaugural ceremony, marking an auspicious start to the production. Raveena was also felicitated by Dr Nissar Ahmed, founder-chairman of Presidency University.

Her presence on the sets marks another significant chapter in her association with Kannada cinema. Raveena’s Kannada film journey began with Upendra, the 1999 cult classic directed by and starring Upendra. She later returned to Kannada cinema in a major pan-India production with KGF: Chapter 2.

Her latest collaboration with A for Anand once again brings her into a prominent Kannada project, this time alongside one of the industry’s most established stars.

First collaboration with Shivarajkumar

A for Anand is the first film to feature Raveena Tandon and Shivarajkumar together.

Shivarajkumar, who continues to balance multiple projects, was recently seen in Bail. He is also awaiting Jailer 2 while simultaneously beginning work on A for Anand.

The actor has now started shooting for MG Srinivas’s directorial, with the production getting under way in Bengaluru.

The pairing of Shivarajkumar and Raveena is expected to be one of the film’s major attractions. While details about their respective characters have not been revealed, their first collaboration has already generated curiosity among Kannada cinema audiences.

MG Srinivas reunites with Shivarajkumar

A for Anand brings Shivarajkumar and director MG Srinivas together again after their previous collaboration, Ghost.

The 2023 film was a stylish heist entertainer and featured Shivarajkumar in the lead. With A for Anand, the filmmaker is once again working with the actor while assembling a large ensemble cast.

MG Srinivas is also awaiting the release of Birbal 2, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 27.

The director has thus lined up multiple projects as he continues to expand his presence in Kannada cinema.

Details of A for Anand remain under wraps

Although production has now commenced, details about the plot of A for Anand have not been disclosed.

The film is being positioned as a major ensemble project, with the director bringing together a sizeable cast around Shivarajkumar. Raveena’s inclusion adds a pan-Indian dimension to the project, given her extensive body of work in Hindi cinema and her appearances across other Indian-language industries.

The makers are yet to reveal further information about Raveena’s character, the film’s storyline and its release schedule.

The title A for Anand and the combination of Shivarajkumar, Raveena Tandon and MG Srinivas have nevertheless created considerable interest ahead of the film’s theatrical plans.

Geetha Shivarajkumar backs the project

A for Anand is produced by Geetha Shivarajkumar under the Geetha Pictures banner.

The technical team includes several established names from Kannada cinema. Arjun Janya is composing the music, while Mahendra Simha is handling cinematography. Deepu S Kumar is responsible for the editing.

The combination of Arjun Janya’s music and Mahendra Simha’s cinematography is expected to complement MG Srinivas’s directorial vision, while the editing will be handled by Deepu S Kumar.

With filming now under way in Bengaluru, further updates regarding the cast, characters and production schedule are expected to follow.

Raveena’s Kannada journey continues

Raveena Tandon’s association with Kannada cinema has been marked by films that attracted attention beyond the regional market. From Upendra in 1999 to KGF: Chapter 2, she has appeared in projects with strong visibility among audiences across India.

Her return with A for Anand continues that association and brings her together with Shivarajkumar for the first time.

For Kannada cinema, the collaboration also represents an interesting combination of an established Bollywood actor, a veteran Kannada star and a filmmaker who has previously worked with Shivarajkumar. As shooting progresses, more information about the ambitious project is expected to emerge.
