Mumbai: South Indian actress Krithi Shetty is set to make her full-fledged debut as a leading lady in Bollywood with Hum Tere Pyaar Mein, a romantic film presented by filmmaker Rohit Shetty. According to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama, the film has gone on floors and will be directed by Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, a longtime protégé of the blockbuster filmmaker.

The title Hum Tere Pyaar Mein is said to capture the essence of the love story while evoking the charm of classic romantic films. A source close to the project told Bollywood Hungama that the title was chosen for its suitability to the story and its old-school appeal, which could resonate with audiences across generations.

Vidhi Ghodgaonkar makes her directorial debut

The film marks an important milestone for Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, who has spent 17 years working closely with Rohit Shetty. Having gained extensive experience across commercial films and digital projects, she is now stepping into the role of director with Hum Tere Pyaar Mein.

Ghodgaonkar has worked as an assistant director on several of Shetty’s prominent films, including Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Chennai Express (2013), Singham Returns (2014), Dilwale (2015), Golmaal Again (2017) and Simmba (2018).

Her association with the filmmaker also extends to his digital projects and writing ventures. She was part of the writing team for Sooryavanshi (2021), Cirkus and the web series Indian Police Force (2024), as well as Singham Again (2024).

Her long association with Shetty has given her experience in different aspects of filmmaking, from action entertainers and comedy franchises to screenwriting and streaming projects. Hum Tere Pyaar Mein will be her first feature film as a director.

Krithi Shetty takes a new step in her career

For Krithi Shetty, the film represents an opportunity to establish herself in Hindi cinema as a leading actress. Although she has already appeared in a Hindi film, her career as a lead performer took off in the Telugu film industry.

Shetty made a brief appearance in Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 (2019), marking her early association with Hindi cinema. Her breakthrough arrived with the Telugu romantic drama Uppena (2021), in which she played the female lead. The film brought her wider recognition and opened the door to further opportunities in South Indian cinema.

She subsequently appeared in projects such as Shyam Singha Roy (2021), Bangarraju (2022), Custody (2023), Manamey (2024) and the Malayalam film ARM (2024). Her filmography reflects her work across Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam cinema.

With Hum Tere Pyaar Mein, Shetty is poised to explore a new market and reach a wider Hindi-speaking audience. Details about her co-star, the rest of the cast, the storyline and the film’s release date have not been disclosed in the report.

Rohit Shetty’s busy 2027 line-up

The project adds another title to Rohit Shetty’s expanding slate of films. The filmmaker is expected to begin 2027 with Golmaal 5, the next instalment in his popular comedy franchise.

Another anticipated project is Maria IPS, featuring John Abraham as former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria. The film is also expected to reach cinemas, although its release schedule has not been confirmed in the report.

While Shetty is known for directing large-scale action entertainers and comedy films, his role in Hum Tere Pyaar Mein is as presenter. The film is produced by Abhishek S Vyas under the banner of AVS Studios, in association with Tudip Entertainment.

The collaboration also brings a new director into the spotlight, with Ghodgaonkar drawing on nearly two decades of experience alongside Shetty. For the filmmaker’s protégé and Krithi Shetty, the romantic drama marks a fresh chapter in their respective careers.

With filming under way and its title now reported, Hum Tere Pyaar Mein will be watched closely for further announcements about its cast, music and release plans.
