Bigg Boss Kannada winner and coastal Karnataka’s homegrown star Roopesh Shetty is all set to captivate audiences once again with his upcoming film Jai, which releases in theatres on November 14. The bilingual movie, made in both Kannada and Tulu, marks another milestone in Roopesh’s journey as an actor-director. The film also stars Adhvithi Shetty in a key role and features Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty in a pivotal appearance.

A special release announcement

The official release date of Jai was revealed during the launch of its romantic track “Love You”, a song that serves as the emotional heartbeat of the film. The song launch was a star-studded event graced by real-life couples from the entertainment industry — Gurukiran and his wife, Niranjan Deshpande and his wife, Vinay Gowda and his wife, Roopesh Rajanna and his wife, and Aaryavardhan Guruji and his wife — symbolising the song’s theme of love and connection.

Crafting the perfect melody

According to the makers, the team spent months perfecting “Love You”. After creating five different versions, the final and sixth composition was chosen for its perfect balance of emotion and rhythm. The soulful number, sung by Rajat Hegde, stands out for its heartfelt lyrics and smooth melody. Roopesh himself penned the lyrics for the Tulu version, while Keerthan Bhandari adapted them for the Kannada version.

Roopesh shared that the song represents more than just a romantic interlude — it’s a reflection of the film’s deeper emotional layers. “Every line of the song carries the film’s essence — love, loss, and hope,” he said.

Dual-language film with local roots

Jai is a bilingual project that bridges both Kannada and Tulu film industries — a rare and ambitious effort. Adhvithi Shetty, who plays a journalist, makes her debut in Tulu cinema through this project. For Roopesh, the film showcases his continued dedication to bringing stories from the coastal region to mainstream audiences.

Speaking about the project, Roopesh said, “My heart lies in both Kannada and Tulu cinema. Jai is not just a film — it’s a story that resonates with every person who fights for love and justice. Working with Suniel Shetty has been an inspiring experience, and his presence adds a powerful dimension to the narrative.”

Strong creative and technical team

Jai is produced by RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films, and Mugrodi Productions, and co-written by Roopesh Shetty and Venu Hasralli. The dialogues are penned by Prasanna Shetty Bailur. The film’s visual storytelling is helmed by cinematographer Vinuth, with music composed by Loy Valentine Saldanha and editing by Rahul Vasishta.

The film promises a mix of drama, emotion, and action, with its narrative expected to appeal to both urban and rural audiences across Karnataka.

Conclusion

As the release date approaches, excitement is building among fans and film enthusiasts. With a compelling story, soulful music, and strong performances, Jai aims to strike a chord with audiences across both Kannada and Tulu-speaking regions. For Roopesh Shetty, it marks another proud step in a career defined by creativity, perseverance, and deep roots in the coastal film industry.
