Mumbai: Actor Sahil Khattar, whose new streaming series ‘Bajao’ premiered on Friday, revealed that his character in the show combines intellect and strength, portraying someone highly intelligent yet lacking patience.
To embody his role, Sahil underwent a physical transformation. Describing his character, he stated, “In ‘Bajao,’ I portray Dhaari Punia, a robust Haryanvi guy with a blend of brains and brawn. He’s the mastermind behind innovative solutions and plans to overcome challenges. I come from Panchkula, close to Chandigarh. During my time representing India in Roller Hockey, I interacted with people from Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Hisar, and Karnal.”
He continued, “Interacting with them helped me learn the Haryanvi dialect. I always believed every actor has an Aamir Khan within, so to achieve perfection, I underwent workshops to precisely gauge when and where the dialect should be applied. We incorporated only about 10 to 20 percent of the accent, and I extensively watched shows and films to nail the accent.”
He concluded, “Haryana’s aspirants exhibit a distinct body language and dry humour. We strived to capture these nuances. Haryana guys possess a unique, quirky essence, and we’ve aimed to incorporate that as well.”
‘Bajao’ is available for streaming on JioCinema.
