Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore recently spoke about her grandchildren Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s journeys in Bollywood. In a candid conversation with Anandabazar Patrika’s YouTube channel, she offered her honest thoughts on their performances.
Sharmila, who recently returned to Bengali cinema after 14 years with Puratawn, did not hold back while commenting on Ibrahim’s debut film Nadaaniyan. She admitted the film didn’t meet expectations. “The movie wasn’t up to the mark,” she said frankly. “But Ibrahim looked very charming and put in real effort. He tried hard. These things may not be said often, but truthfully, the film just wasn’t strong. In the end, the film itself needs to work.”
On the other hand, she lauded Sara Ali Khan for her commitment and potential. “Sara is a sincere actress. She’s diligent and capable of achieving much more. I believe she’ll reach greater heights,” she added with pride.
Sharmila also touched upon a personal chapter—her quiet battle with lung cancer, diagnosed in 2023. Her daughter Soha Ali Khan recently revealed that it was caught at stage zero, requiring no chemotherapy. “It was surgically removed, and by God’s grace, she’s doing well,” Soha shared.
Nadaaniyan, produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and directed by Shauna Gautam, faced heavy online criticism. Both Ibrahim and co-star Khushi Kapoor were called out for underwhelming performances.
