Mumbai: Actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty is gearing up for her return to the cinema, with her upcoming movie ‘Sukhee’ set to release on September 22. The film, directed by debutant director Sonal Joshi, falls under the family entertainer category.
‘Sukhee’ revolves around the story of Sukhpreet ‘Sukhee’ Kalra, a 38-year-old Punjabi housewife, and her group of friends who journey to Delhi for their school reunion after two decades. The narrative delves into Sukhee’s experiences and emotions as she relives her 17-year-old self, undergoing a profound transformation from being a wife and mother back to being an independent woman.
Shilpa Shetty took to Instagram to unveil the movie’s poster, expressing, “This is a story that belongs to me, you, and all of us. Meet someone just like you, Sukhpreet Kalra, aka #Sukhee, and step into my world on September 22, only in cinemas.”
The film marks the directorial debut of Sonal Joshi and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Shikha Sharma. The ensemble cast includes Shilpa Shetty alongside Kusha Kapila, Dilnaz Irani, Pavleen Gujral, Chaitanya Choudhry, and Amit Sadh. The screenplay is by Radhika Anand, with Paulomi Dutta contributing to the screenplay.
Produced by the creators of ‘Sherni,’ ‘Chhorii,’ and ‘Jalsa,’ the movie is a collaboration between T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment.
