Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan, admired for her dynamic screen presence and versatility, recently opened up about the struggles she faced during the early phase of her film career. In a candid conversation on In The Ring with Filmfare, Shruti reflected on her debut in Bollywood, calling it a major setback.
“My first film was a smashing disaster. After that, I honestly wasn’t planning to continue,” Shruti admitted. She revealed that her original goal was to earn some money and return to her musical roots. “I had told myself, I’ll make enough and go back to Rock and Roll, baby,” she shared with a smile.
However, a brutally honest conversation with her close friend Krishnan shifted her perspective. “Macha, that was terrible. You were terrible in it. Either do it right or don’t do it at all,” he told her. That remark struck a chord and made Shruti re-evaluate her passion for cinema.
She took it as a challenge and began working seriously on her craft. “It was like falling in love when you least expect it — true love happens as you’re walking by,” she said about her growing affection for acting.
Since then, Shruti has built an impressive filmography with titles like Ramaiya Vastavaiya, D-Day, Gabbar Is Back, and Devi.
Looking ahead, Shruti will be seen in a strong line-up of films: Coolie opposite Rajinikanth, Train with Vijay Sethupathi, Jana Nayagan alongside Vijay, and Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam with Prabhas.
