India’s World Cup-winning cricket star Smriti Mandhana on Thursday confirmed her engagement to Bollywood music composer Palash Muchhal through a choreographed Instagram video, ending months of speculation about the couple’s relationship. While the video did not disclose any wedding date, Prime Minister Narendra Modi later revealed that the two will marry on 23 November 2025.

Muchhal, who has composed music for multiple Hindi films and albums, had vaguely hinted at the wedding last month at an event in Indore, saying Mandhana would soon become the “daughter-in-law of Indore.”

While the video sparked the initial excitement, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory message that provided the biggest update.
