Bengaluru: Rocking Star Yash’s upcoming Kannada film Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has been generating buzz ever since its announcement — not just for the unusual star-director pairing but also for rumours of creative differences on set. However, actor Sudev Nair, who plays a key role in the film, has dismissed the speculation, calling the experience “good teamwork” with no ego clashes.

Speaking to OTTplay, Sudev said:

“Geetu is highly skilled, everyone knows that. Yash chose to work with her after so long, and he himself has a deep understanding of filmmaking. With Rajeev Ravi doing the cinematography, it is in safe hands. It was give and take — Yash takes Geetu’s suggestions, and she takes his. It’s not about status or seniority, the only goal is the film.”

Yash praised as an actor, not just a star

Sudev, who has acted across Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi industries, added that working closely with Yash was a rewarding experience.

“Yash is a very good actor, not just a star. He is very open to discussions and doesn’t have any airs. We even spoke about my performance. It was very rewarding.”

A film of scale and patience

Directed by Geetu Mohandas (Moothon), Toxic is scheduled to release in March 2026. The actor revealed that the film’s production style is the complete opposite of his upcoming Malayalam series Kammattam, which wrapped in just 11 days across 40 locations.

Toxic is the other extreme. It requires a lot of time. It’s a big-scale project, and we’re striving for perfection in every frame. Sometimes, we would take two to three days just to shoot a single scene,” Sudev explained.

About Toxic

The film brings together an unusual creative team — Yash, a mass superstar with a pan-India fan base after KGF, and Geetu Mohandas, known for her nuanced and critically acclaimed films. With cinematographer Rajeev Ravi on board, expectations are high for a visually compelling and layered project.

Meanwhile, Sudev Nair continues to juggle multiple industries, with credits ranging from Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam to Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 and Hindi films like Gulaab Gang.
