Mumbai: A day after veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, his son and actor Sunny Deol was seen visibly upset with paparazzi gathered outside their Juhu residence. The Deol family has been dealing with an emotionally taxing time due to the legendary actor’s recent health issues, and Sunny’s reaction reflected the family’s plea for peace and privacy.
Dharmendra, 88, had been admitted for over ten days before being allowed to return home on Wednesday morning (November 12). Since then, the paparazzi have reportedly been stationed outside the Deol household, trying to capture images and videos of the actor’s return.
“Aapke ghar mein maa-baap hain…” — Sunny Deol’s plea to media
On Thursday, November 13, Sunny Deol stepped out of his residence to address the gathered photographers. Visibly distressed, he folded his hands and appealed to the media to show empathy. His words, “Aapke ghar mein maa-baap hain, aapke ghar mein bacche hain… Sharam nahi aati?” echoed his frustration at the relentless crowding outside their home.
According to witnesses, the actor also uttered an expletive in anger before retreating inside, further highlighting the stress the family is under. Sunny, known for his calm demeanour, rarely loses his temper in public, making this incident particularly striking.
Dharmendra’s health and hospitalisation
The senior actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai earlier this month for unspecified health concerns. He remained under observation for more than ten days. Following his discharge, the Deol family issued an official statement expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers while requesting privacy.
The statement read:
“Mr Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you.”
Despite the clear appeal, large numbers of fans and photographers have continued to gather outside the family’s Juhu residence, prompting Sunny Deol’s outburst.
Hema Malini shares her concern
Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress Hema Malini also spoke about the difficult days the family faced during his hospital stay. Speaking to film critic Subhash K Jha, she said:
“It has not been an easy time for me. Dharamji’s health is a matter of great concern for us. His children are sleepless. I can’t afford to be weak, too many responsibilities. But yes, I am happy he’s back home. We are relieved he is out of hospital. He needs to be among the people he loves. Baaki toh sab oopar wale ke haath mein hai (Everything else is in the hands of the Almighty). Please pray for us.”
Her statement sheds light on the emotional strain the family has endured while expressing gratitude for Dharmendra’s improving condition.
Fans continue to express support
On social media, fans and well-wishers have flooded the Deol family with messages of love and prayers for Dharmendra’s speedy recovery. Many have also supported Sunny Deol’s request for privacy, emphasising that media intrusion during such sensitive times is unfair.
As the veteran actor continues his recovery at home, the family has requested the public and media to let him rest without disruption.
