New Delhi: Sooraj Pancholi, once engulfed in headlines over the Jiah Khan suicide case, is stepping back into the limelight with his upcoming film Kesari Veer: Legend of Somnath. This marks his first movie since being acquitted of all abetment charges by a CBI court in 2023.

Despite a rocky start in Bollywood with films like Hero, Satellite Shankar, and Time to Dance underperforming, Sooraj has remained resolute in pursuing his acting career. Now, he returns in a historical action-drama helmed by director Prince Dhiman and written by Kanu Chauhan and Shitiz Srivastava. The film also stars Suniel Shetty and Akanksha Sharma in key roles.

During the trailer launch of Kesari Veer, an emotional Sooraj couldn’t hold back his tears. In a heartfelt moment caught on camera, he thanked the film’s makers, saying, “Thank you, Kanu sir, for giving me a chance.” Overwhelmed, he was comforted by his co-star Suniel Shetty, who offered his support on stage.

Suniel Shetty lauded Sooraj’s resilience and growth, saying, “He has been through a lot. This second chance is divine — it’s Mahadev’s blessing. His performance will speak for itself. When I watch him, I see the same fire I see in my son, Ahan.”

Jiah Khan tragically died by suicide in 2013. Her family had accused Sooraj of abetment, but after a prolonged legal battle, he was cleared in 2023.

Kesari Veer: Legend of Somnath is slated for theatrical release on March 14, 2025.
