Actress Tejasswi Prakash has been stealing hearts on the stage of Celebrity Masterchef, not just with her culinary skills but also her moving personal story. Garnering praises and the coveted ‘spoon taps’ from the judges, Tejasswi recently earned chef Ranveer Brar’s iconic knife—an honor he bestows on one deserving contestant each season.
In the latest Holi special episode, emotions ran high as contestants were joined by a family member. Tejasswi’s mother made a special appearance, leading to an emotional conversation about her struggles raising two children single-handedly while Tejasswi’s father worked in Saudi Arabia.
Tejasswi recalled, “My mother raised us alone. During tough times, she sold policies door-to-door. I once asked for a car, and she mortgaged her bangles to buy me a second-hand one. When I noticed her bare hands, I insisted we get them back.”
Her mother humbly added, “I’ve sold onions and small things to support us. But she always assured me things would turn around.”
Tejasswi further shared how, early in her career, she gave her first fashion show earnings—₹5000—to her mom, helping ease their financial struggles. Her mother fondly spoke of how Tejasswi took care of her younger brother while she was out working, calling her daughter a true “winner.”
Adding to her achievements, chef Vikas Khanna recently recreated one of Tejasswi’s dishes at his New York restaurant. With the finale approaching, Tejasswi is strongly tipped to be among the top three.
