Mumbai: Dhanush’s Tere Ishk Mein continues its impressive run at the box office, passing the crucial Monday test with remarkable stability and delivering a strong performance on its fifth day. The film collected ₹8 crore nett in Hindi on Monday, with an additional ₹20–30 lakh expected from the dubbed Tamil version. The hold has been termed “outstanding”, signalling strong word-of-mouth from audiences despite mixed reactions circulating on social media.
Film benefits from Tuesday ticketing discounts
On Tuesday, the film witnessed a 15% jump in occupancy compared to Monday. This rise aligns with the now-common trend of discounted ticket prices on Tuesdays across multiple platforms, a strategy that has been boosting weekday footfalls for films with positive audience reception.
Thanks to this momentum, early estimates predict that the film will earn around ₹8.50 crore nett on its fifth day. With this, the five-day total is expected to reach ₹68–69 crore nett (including dubbed versions), officially making Tere Ishk Mein Dhanush’s biggest Bollywood hit to date. His previous highest grosser, Raanjhanaa, had concluded its India run at ₹61.50 crore nett.
Strong hold ahead of major competition
Despite the strong start, Tere Ishk Mein now faces a significant challenge with the release of Ranveer Singh’s action drama Dhurandhar. The new film is expected to occupy a large share of screens in its opening week, which may affect the second-week performance of Dhanush’s romantic drama.
However, trade analysts believe that Tere Ishk Mein still has “enough legs” to maintain a steady run. Should Dhurandhar fail to click with audiences, Tere Ishk Mein could reclaim lost screen count and continue its upward trajectory.
Word-of-mouth driving sustained interest
While critics and social media users remain divided on the film’s narrative and execution, the general audience response has leaned positive, contributing to its stability at the box office. Exhibitors report consistent footfalls across key urban centres, with families and young viewers driving a large portion of the collections.
